Have you ever walked up to a foundation counter and have no clue
of which color best suits you? So you turn to the employee behind the counter
for help because you would think they are the savvy’s and they end up referring
a foundation color that is either too light or too dark for you. I can relate!
My very first time ever purchasing a foundation was from MAC at a Macys
counter, I never tried it on at the store because I trusted the nice lady who
helped me. Sadly most of these people behind a beauty counter are just a
salesperson, and know just as much as the clients who go looking for help.
Anyways So I waited until getting home to see how this foundation
looked and Lord knows how dark that thing was on my face! That turned out
to be a life learning experience. It is good to know what your complexion, and
undertones are. It took me a while to understand but with research done I can
now say I trust myself when I go get foundations or powders on my own instead
of relying and hoping someone else would help.
What is your Complexion?
Complexion also known as skin tone is how
your skin appears to be. Light, Medium, Dark.
What is your Undertone?
Undertone is the underlying color of your
skin. Warm (green), Cool (blue), or Neutral (a mix of both)
How do I figure out which undertone I am?
My advice is to look at your veins on your
wrist. If they appear to be green you are a warm undertone, if they are bluish
you are cool undertone and if they appear to be a mixture of both colors then
you are neutral. If your veins don’t really pop up you can always gently press
your thumb into the skin of the wrist and you will see them appear.
If some of you are wondering, I happen to be a light/medium warm toned. On days when I am tanned I just stick to mediurm warm.Understanding these can be a little tricky
but I promise it won’t take long to get the hang of it. This is my way of showing it and what has worked best for me.I
tried my best and I hope I helped! xoxo
