Contouring is one of the oldest techniques used in the makeup industry, it is well known for being used for photo shoots and runway models. The whole purpose of contouring is to define and enhance certain areas of the face while shading and highlighting to bring out or minimize features. Contouring is rapidly becoming part of many girls daily makeup routine nowadays leaving others wondering "how do I get that look"? So I would try my best to explain how to achieve the look and suggest what products to use. I do advice sticking to matte colors rather than liquid. A matte color gives a more realistic finish opposed to liquid giving a dewy look. Both look great if blended out correctly, but I have to say using mattes is my favorite way of contouring. Although in this tutorial I will be using both matte and liquid products just to show you guys that contouring can be done with both, and getting creative is always fun, which is what I enjoy the most about makeup artistry! I did try to use the least amount of product to keep it simple and easier for those just starting to learn. LETS START.
PRODUCTS USED:
Neutrogena oil-free Moisturizer for sensitive skin
Neutrogena shine control makeup foundation- Warm Beige 90
Bobbi Brown bronzing powder- Medium 2
E.L.F under eye concealer & highlighter- Light/Glow
When
you contour remember that whatever part you apply on will make features pop
out, so the more applied the stronger the features appear. To contour use your
bronzer and apply under your cheekbone, around your hairline, on the side of
the nose.
To
highlight you are going to use your concealer and apply to your T-zone. Your
T-zone is the area above your eyebrows, below your eyebrows, down the center of
your nose or "bridge", the under- eye area and right above your
cheekbones, also your cupids bow and chin.
After all is applied you are going to use a brush or beauty blending
sponge to blend in all the makeup until no harsh lines are visible! A great
tool to blend out makeup is a stippling brush. I happened to use E.L.F’s
stipple brush which is affordable and works great!
Don’t be afraid to add on some blush or illuminator when you
are done, a little glow for dimension is okay.
Final Look
With so many holiday events coming up, why not spice things up with a little contour and look extra glam!
